The Incident

March 22nd, 2009 by amitbms

The sun was glowing bright yellow and orange and was a god compared to
the Earth. The smell of life and energy was in the air and everyone sensed it
as they gathered around their school’s giant oak tree which stood tall and
proud for over 30 years. David had been more excited then ever because he

loved field trips, especially one that was on the last day of school and which

would go 3 weeks into summer break. Everyone took a glance over at the

parking lot as they heard David and his mom drive over with their monstrous,

green Toyota Van. Anyone could tell that was David because he had the

blondest hair that could shine brighter than a light bulb in a murky cave.

Everybody knew him as a tall, but lean kid with sky blue eyes and the popular

dude at his school. He always wore his green A’s hat, tight Levi’s Jeans, any

shirt within reach, and his custom designed Nike shoes.

The field trip supervisor, Mr. Magert, was going to be watching over all the

students for the next 3 weeks.

“Oh my gosh Mr. Magert is so annoying” whispered kids while snickering to

each other.

While waiting for the last few kids to arrive, all the kids started talking about

what they were going to do over the vacation and how much fun they’re

going to have at Camp Watacki. They all boarded there school’s green and

white school bus, which were their school colors. The bus was old and rusty

and the windows made a screeching sound when moved. The tires were

barely bumped to requirements, the leather seats were coarse and springs

rose out of the cushions for your back. The ride to Camp Watacki would be

about a 4 hour ride but the kids sang songs which was weird because they

were all in the 9

th grade.
“They wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round!” they all
shouted with laughter in their voices.

Although David liked field trips nothing bored him more then an old fashion

rode trip. He decided to sleep considering he got almost no sleep last night

by staying up with his best friend Paul playing videos games and reminiscing

about all the excitement the camp was going to have. Such as, swimming,

baseball, soccer, volleyball, camp fires with all his school friends. David had

no care in the world at that time and thought summer was going to be a

breeze…

CRASH! The sudden shock scared everyone as they lunged forward hitting
the leather seats of the bus in front of this. POP! The wheel of the bus had
gotten lose and fallen. David slowly moved his head up suffering from the

major pain he gotten in his head. He could feel the blood pumping in his had

and the aggravation of the screams of his fellow classmates just made it

worse. He stared out of the broken window with chipped glass in every corner

of the frame. They were hanging over a colossal hill on the side of what

appeared to be an abandoned road located somewhere in the mountains.

Blood gushed down the side of the bus drivers head as she laid on the

floor…dead. The screams began to increase in volume as the bus tipped inch

by inch closer to falling and losing their lives. The medal bars of the side of

the road had gotten caught into one of the pipes on the bottom of the bus

and was the only thing keeping them from a horrific and painful death.

Everyone was in too much shock to do anything or even move a muscle.

“Oh my god, oh my god…were gonna’ die!!” screamed David and few others

in the back of the bus.

No was moving because they were being over cautious trying not to upset the

balance of the bus until suddenly the stainless steel bar broke!

“Ahhhhhh!!!” went the screams of all the students including Mr. Magert.

The yells of the students made it impossible to hear what was going on. The

bus toppled down the bumpy hill bending and breaking in all places. Through

the window all you could see was green from all the tree tops. It seemed as a

green hell for all of the students. Kaboom! The gas tank under the bus had

exploded and the kids sitting in the middle of the bus started coughing and

some went into unconsciousness. The bus had split into two parts and had

gone in different directions as the bus plummeted towards the tree filled

jungle of hell.

Nothing but silence. David’s head has aching and was bleeding all over. His
back was in knots, his feet were bruised, his arms felt number and more

wobbly then Jell-O. His head slowly arose from the damp mud on the floor of

this vast jungle. Seeing double, David couldn’t stand upright. He tilted side to

side trying to keep his balance and finally got a grasp on a nearby tree

branch to keep his balance. He glared around and saw no one. No bus, no

students, no Mr. Magert. Tears strolled down the side of his cheek while

trying to figure out what had happened. He began to lay on the floor in the

fetal position crying louder than an infant without his mother. He had no idea

how he was going to survive or get out of this crazy maze of a jungle. David

had cried himself to sleep thinking he would never see any of his friends

again or his loved ones.

Next morning, David woke up with sick feeling in his stomach. He had built

up the confidence to look around to see any evidence of what had happened

to all the students. No tracks of the bus or signs of any explosion. The air

reeked of a retched smell of old, sweaty gym socks. Ignoring the smell, David

started walking around when suddenly a wild dear looking animal popped

out. The animal charged David with its vicious horns which resembled the

ones on a rhino. David dove out of its path and into a bush. David scrunched

his body into a ball trying to make himself small so the deer like creature

couldn’t find him.
